In the battle of
man v/s hair, it is hair that has won. It would grow where we least
wanted it and just not appear where we most wanted it. Traditional
methods of temporary hair removal today include shaving, depilatory
creams, waxing sugaring, plucking. Until now the only way to permanently
remove hair has been by electrolysis, which is painful, time consuming
and occasionally resulting in permanent scars. But Skin Laser Centre
now provides a permanent solution to the ugly hair growth through
the latest Diode hair removing laser system.
What is Diode hair removal laser system?
Diode hair removal system is a non invasive light therapy
device specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all
parts of the body. The Diode laser is a diode array
type of laser which is distributed by Coherent Medical Systems and
is approved for permanent hair reduction by the Food and Drug Administration.
The Diode laser generates light at an 810 nm wavelength which targets
the melanin pigment which is there in the hair follicle and shaft.
The patented Chill Tip cooling handpiece is designed to protect
the outer layer of skin by decreasing the surface temperature and
preventing thermal injury from the laser beam. The Chill Tip also
has a mild anesthetic effect which helps to minimize the discomfort
of the procedure.

How long does the treatment take?
The laser has a remarkable speed without compromising efficiency.
Hundreds of hairs are targeted in one flash of light. A complete
facial treatment takes just 10 minutes whereas a back or both
legs may take 20 minutes.
How many sittings are generally required ?
This varies depending upon your hair color & location on the
body. Several sittings may be needed, with each session usually
lasting 5-30 minutes.

How
does the treatment work?
Hair removing Diode laser works by destroying the hair roots.
First a cool gel is applied on the skin and the laser light
is guided via a chill-tip probe to the hair roots, the laser
safely penetrates into the skin & disables hundreds of
hair follicles simultaneously. When the gel is removed most
of the hair are wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the
treated area fall out within a week or two.

Are any special precautions
needed before & after treatment?
The laser light is completely safe however it is important
not to remove hair by epilation, waxing, plucking or threading 4
weeks before treatment to ensure that maximum hair follicles are
in the active cycle and can be destroyed by the laser. You may use
chemical depilators or shave in between sittings. It is also important
to avoid tanning before and after the treatment sessions. Following
treatment it is recommended to limit sun exposure and use a sunscreen.
Why use the Diode over other laser systems?
Simply put, we believe this is absolutely the best laser currently
available for permanent removal of hair in men and women of all
skin types. We have selected this laser because of it's proven and
unmatched clinical track record in laser hair removal. The long
wavelength of this system allows darker skinned patients to be treated
with less risk. This laser has been approved by the FDA for permanent
reduction of hair in the treated areas, a claim that virtually no
laser hair removal system can make.

Is it Painful?
You may feel a tingling or stinging sensation during treatment. Most
patients tolerate this sensation without the need for anesthetic.
However, certain areas of the body are more sensitive to the laser
and a topical anesthetic can be applied to these regions to decrease
the discomfort even further. What happens after
treatment?
Within several minutes, the treated area may become slightly
red and puffy. This reaction subsides within a day or so the treated
area becomes normal. Patients often describe the sensation of a mild
sunburn for the first day or so. Since the Diode laser does not cut
the skin, bandages are not necessary and most people return to normal
activity immediately. However,it is advisory not to plan any important
social engagement during the first few days of the treatment, especially
if the treated areas are on the face.
Your doctor may prescribe you a mild topical steroid cream to be applied
on the treated areas for 2-3 days following treatment. Around 3-10
days after treatment you may experience what seems to be hair re-growing.
These are actually the treated hair that are being shed and are not
regrowing. In between treatments you should not wax or pluck your
hairs because this decreases the ability of the laser to destroy actively
growing hair.
